Im watching ESPN right now waiting for the Bulls x Celtics game to begin and there’s a panel (in honor of MLK day coming up) of former athletes and broadcasters speaking about race and sexuality relations in professional sports. Some of the panel members are talking about how the sports world is behind society in accepting gay players. Think about it. What if a player were to admit he or she were gay, would endorsements and commercials be pulled? Would fans shout disrespectful things if the player is having an off game? What would it take to bring the sports world to respect the gay community — a star player coming out? Sigh, I don’t know why such things are even an issue
